they found everyone had a bundle of money in his sack. When they arrived, Jacob
told them, “You have been bereaving me of my children, Joseph is no more. Simeon
is no more and now you want Benjamin …” (Genesis 42:36).

Reuben made an agreement with Jacob to slay his two sons if he would not bring
Benjamin but Jacob refused to let Benjamin to go with them.

The homage which his brothers paid to Joseph was the fulfillment of his first dream.
His brothers knelt at his feet, just as he had seen them in the dream, suppressing his
deep emotions. Joseph pretended not to know his brothers because he wanted to find
out whether they had repented of the evils they had committed against him.

          Joseph’s brothers return to Egypt
When famine became severe, and there was no grain at home, Jacob said, “Go again,
buy us a little food” (Genesis 43:2). Judah reminded him of Joseph’s words unless
they go with Benjamin they should not see his face. Jacob (Israel) said why did you
treat me so ill as to tell the man you had another brother? (Genesis 43:6). Judah insisted
their father to let them take Benjamin along with them otherwise they would not live
but die. At last, Jacob agreed and gave them the following present to Joseph: A little
balm, a little honey, Gum, and myrrh, pistachio nuts, almonds, double amount of the
previous money and some fruits. And Benjamin was allowed to go with them under
          agreed conditions.

Joseph’s final test to his brothers
Joseph received his embattled brothers for the second time and commanded the steward
saying, “Fill the men’s sack with food as much as they can carry and put each man’s
money in the mouth of his sack” (Genesis 44:1). He even ordered the steward to put
his silver cup in the sack of the youngest. After they had left, Joseph commanded the
steward to follow after the men, and when you catch them, ask them why they had
stolen my silver cup. When he overtook them, the cup was found in Benjamin’s sack.

Therefore, they rent their clothes and every man loaded his donkey and they returned
to the city, and they all bowed to Joseph and asked him to allow them to be his slaves.
Joseph refused and he wanted them to go, except Benjamin who was found with the
          cup.

Judah requested Joseph to allow them to go with Benjamin otherwise their father
would die of sadness. “For how can I go back to my father if the lad is not with me? I
fear to see the evil that would come upon my father” (Genesis 44:34). Joseph decided
to put his brothers to another final test to find out their attitude towards their brother
Benjamin, whether they cared about him or not.
