              Exercise 7.7

              1. A group of friends noticed that the cowpea pods in their plot are turning
brown. When they opened the pods, the seeds inside were hard. How can they
confirm the crop is ready for harvest, and what harvesting method should
                  they use?
              2. You harvested dry cowpea seeds and stored them in a plastic container. A
few weeks later, the seeds develop mould and give out a bad smell. What is
likely to be the cause of this problem, and what should be done to avoid such
                  problems?

              3. Explain two reasons why planning is important before beginning a cowpea
                  production enterprise.

              4. Your school plans to grow cowpeas for learning and income generation,
but has a very small budget. What low-cost strategies can be used to grow,
                  manage, and market cowpeas successfully?

Write a summary of what you have learnt from this chapter in your
                          portfolio.
