            Housing rabbit in pens

Pens are preferably used in housing young rabbits after weaning. A group of
weaning rabbits is kept in the pen. A pen can measure 1.5 m length, 1.2 m width,
and 0.5 m height. About 20 weaning rabbits are housed in each pen. Once rabbits
attain puberty, they may be housed individually. If they are kept together, they will
fight and get injured. Moreover, if they are kept together, inbreeding may take place
hence reducing the quality of the animals. Figure 4.17 shows a section of a house
depicting rabbits housed in group pen.
