Ecological requirements for perennial crops are highly variable as their nature
varies. While some of the perennial crops need short rains, others need intermediate

or long rains. Others need dry weather during flowering. Likewise, some perennial
crops grow well in cool climate while others do well in hot or intermediate climates.
The production of perennial crops, like other crops, has to adhere to the general
principles of crop production from planning to harvesting. It has also to adhere to
post-harvest practices you have already learnt. However, depending on the nature
of a perennial crop concerned, it may need special agronomic practices which are
specific to the crop. Some perennial crops need trellis while others need shade.

Whenever the production of perennial crop(s) seems practicable in your area, you
should carry out production under the advice of your teacher, extension workers or
          other agricultural experts.
