Blind spot The point where the optic nerve leaves the
retina. It is an area that has no image detection
Blood clotting Process that prevents excessive bleeding when
a blood vessel is injured

Bowman’s capsule Cup-shaped capsule at the start of a nephrone.
Capillaries Smallest blood vessels that facilitate the exchange
of nutrients, gases, and waste between blood
and tissues
Carcinogen Substance capable of causing cancer in living
tissue
Cardiac muscle The muscle tissue of the heart
Catalyst Substance that speeds up a chemical reaction
without being consumed
Cerebellum Cauliflower-shaped brain structure located
just above the brainstem, beneath the occipital
lobes at the base of the skull. It is responsible
for coordination and balance
Cerebral hemispheres Two halves of the cerebrum
Cerebrospinal fluid Fluid filling the spinal canal, which helps to
protect the spinal cord from shocks
Cerebrum Part of the brain involved in learning, memory,
thought, personality, and voluntary actions
Choroid middle Dark coloured layer of the wall of the eye
Ciliary muscles Muscles on the wall of the eyeball that are
attached by ligaments to the lens
Circulatory System System that transports blood, oxygen, and
nutrients throughout the body
Cochlea Coiled tube in the inner ear; it is the organ of
hearing
Collecting ducts The ducts collecting urine into the pelvic region
of the kidney
Concave lens Spectacle lens that diverges light rays and
bring them to focus on the retina to correct
short sightedness
