1. Choose one poem you have read in class. In a well-organised written
essay of about 300–400 words:

(b) Explain how the poem either challenges or reinforces these norms or

(c) Support your explanation with specific evidence from the poem.
(d) Reflect on how the poem’s message relates to your own community

2. Reread one poem that has made a strong impression on you. Write a
reflective essay of 300–400 words, addressing the following:
(a) What central issue(s) does the poem raise?
(b) How did reading the poem change your thinking, feelings,
or awareness about the issue?
(c) Relate the poem to any personal experiences, beliefs,
or observations from your life or society.
(d) What new questions or thoughts did the poem leave you with?

Revision
1. With evidence from two poems, relate the cultural issues represented to real-
life experiences.
2. Examine the political context presented in one play read in class and compare
it with the current political situation.
