Activity 3 Relating the context of the story in selected poems
and plays to real-life experiences
Did you
know
Life experiences refer to the personal events, interactions, and circumstances
that we or others go through in the struggle against day-to-day happenings in
life. In literary texts, characters of whatever background and nature go through
varied life experiences. It is, therefore, important to reflect on and relate the
experiences represented in the text through the actions and interactions of
characters and compare them with our experiences to develop empathy and walk
on a morally acceptable track.
(a) Recite a selected poem and answer the following questions.
1. What problems and challenges does the persona face in the text?
2. How are the persona’s responses to problems and challenges in the text
relevant in today’s world?
3. How do problems and challenges in the text reflect current real-life
situations?
4. How are the issues addressed in the poem relevant in today’s context?
5. If you were the persona in the poem, what would you have done
differently and why?
