Pin and sew with a narrow zigzag stitch,
or serger.
(iii) Fold the lace over, and press.
The seam allowance should be
pressed up towards the garment. The lace can also be attached on very fine
fabrics by rolling the edge of the fabric and
whip it, catching in the edge of the lace at
the same time. The lace may be gathered by
pulling up its straight thread if required.
A narrow hem has a finished depth of 1”
to 1”. 8

(iv) Sew a straight stitch, twin needle stitch,
or use an overlock (whichever you
prefer). Sew on the right side, through
the fabric and the seam allowance.
(v) Press again. Additionally, the lace may be attached by
a narrow machine satin stitch on the right
side. Trim away the excess raw edges
on the wrong side close to the stitching.
(vi) Put the garment right sides together
ensuring that the hemline is neatened
