Procedure for working on spaced tucks
(i) Mark the stitching lines of each tuck on
the side of the fabric that will be stitched.
If tucks will be stitched on the right
side, use tailors tacks or thread basting.
(ii) Fold the tucks in such a way that the
fold of the first tuck lies on the stitching
line of the second tuck. Continue in the
same way until all the tucks are worked.

(iii) Stitch each tuck from the side of
the tuck that will be seen after
the tuck is pressed flat. Keep
the stitches straight and even.
(iv) Press each tuck flat, as stitched.
Spaced tucks: These have a space
between each tuck. The space must be
of the same width throughout. The depth
and width of the tuck can be marked by
using a guide mark.
(d) Pleats: Pleats are folds of a fabric that
create volume, texture and details.
