are able to feed and utilise both fibrous and concentrate feeds. On the other hand,
non-ruminants, which include pigs, and chickens (animals with simple stomachs),
can utilise cereal-based feeds through enzymatic digestion.
Types of livestock feeds
Livestock feeds can be broadly classified into two major groups: roughages and
concentrates. The categories of these feeds are summarised in Figure 6.3
