Generally, newspaper and magazine articles have the following parts: Who was
involved? What happened? Where did it happen? Why did it happen? When
did it happen? And How did it happen? The writer has to ensure that the detailed
information is provided logically for the reader to comprehend the information
easily. Usually, the most important information is placed in the opening paragraph

and followed up with supporting information, to ensure that the reader sees the
important details first before continuing to read until the end. The conclusion can
be your final information, summary, or carefully chosen quote to leave the reader
with a strong sense of your information.
Activity 3.8 Writing a journal article
(a) Read from different sources and write procedures for writing a journal article.
(b) Collect five journal articles on a particular topic in your field of study and identify
the sections of each article. Comment on their differences in terms of structure (if
any) and discuss their contents. You may search the following sites for the articles.

(c) In not more than 600 words, summarise each of the articles using correct grammar
