Coining
Teaching and Learning Procedures
The following procedures may be considered in teaching and learning
the coining process:
1. Guide students through discussing what coinage is. Let students
engage in the introduction by making reference to the notes they
created in Activity 1.1.
2. Provide instances of coined words to demonstrate the notion. Begin
with familiar examples like the word Google. Explain how these
words or phrases were coined to represent new items or concepts,
and how they have gained widespread recognition and use.
3. Explain why people invent new words through coinage. Discuss
how newly formed phrases can be catchy, memorable, and original,
making them ideal for branding, advertising, or expressing novel
ideas.
4. Investigate how coined terms frequently reflect advances in
technology, popular culture, or socio-economic developments.
