Exercise 1�9 in the Student’s Book
(a) Instruct students to do the exercise in pairs/groups. Inform them
to use online/offline sources to read and answer the question
given in their text book.

(b) Answers from students are expected to consider and highlight
the following:
i. Online platforms provide a space for users to interact and
communicate in real-time, allowing for the rapid sharing
of language innovations.
ii. Users of these platforms often come up with shortened
versions of words or phrases, known as clipped words, to
convey their message more quickly and concisely.
iii. These clipped words spread through online platforms and
eventually make their way into everyday speech.
(c) Let students present their works for discussion and knowledge
sharing.
(d) Check on the correctness of students answers and provide
clarification and correct their works where needed.

Teaching and learning procedures
1. Guide students through brainstorming the concept of pronunciation.
2. Write a sample of words on the and guide the students through

4. Provide students with specific words and ask them to read them

7. Ask students to sit in groups and provide them with the task of
pronouncing and transcribing words.
