Activity 1�7 in the Student’s Book
(a) Ask students to do the activity given in the Student’s Book
as follow:
i. Instruct them to listen to English news bulletin or any
recorded oral presentation available in any online platform.
ii. Instruct them to write down at least 10 English words used
in the news bulletin or presentation.
iii. Organise students in groups and instruct them to share and
discuss words each one has written.
(b) Guide students through studying the words, and dividing them
into their constituent syllables:
i. Check on their progress and assist them where necessary.
ii. Students should share their works through presentation
and discussion for comments and knowledge exchange.
iii. Provide feedback and correct any mistakes from their work
to improve them.
Stress in academic communication
Guide students through brainstorming the concept known as stress in
pronunciation. Use quick questions to solicit their general understanding
of stress. Use the notes provided in their text book to enhance the
discussion.
