various words or sentences.
7. Continue asking students to articulate words while you are writing
and assigning them intonation.
8. Ask students to sit in groups and provide them with words or
sentences to apply both rising and falling intonations.
9. Ask students to write other words or sentences and assist them in
applying the correct intonation.
Exercise 1�11 in the Student’s Book
(a) Guide students through reading the sentences provided in
their text book and apply appropriate intonation. You can
sample some students to do so and where one fails you can
pick another student.
(b) Assist students as each one reads the sentences and ensure
that they give correct pronunciation of the sentences provided.
(c) Encourage students to do peer evaluation and provide
clarification, make correction where necessary.
(d) Where necessary give more clarification and correct their
mistakes when it is required to do so.
Activity 1�9 in the Student’s Book
(a) Guide students in groups through doing the activity. Instruct
them to do the following:
i. Choose any cross-cutting issue they are familiar with and
brainstorm it. You can as well help them develop a list of
cross-cutting issues from which each group will pick one
issue.
