Exercise 2�1 in the Student’s Book
(a) Guide students in groups through doing the following:
i. Using the prompts given in their text book to construct
two sentences for each.

(b) Get a sample of students to present their works.
(c) Guide the class through discussing the sentences presented.
(d) Check on students answers, provide clarification and correct
their mistakes.

1. Guide students through discussing the different uses of punctuation
marks.
2. Have them also discuss how punctuation marks can significantly
alter how a sentence is understood.
3. Guide them through reading Text 1 and 2 adapted from Cyber Text
Consulting and identifying how punctuation affects meaning.
4. Let them identify and mention the differences in the two texts.
5. Encourage students to engage in a discussion about the two texts.
6. Conclude the discussion by giving clarification and correcting
students mistakes.
Activity 2�1 in the Student’s Book
(a) Guide students in groups through doing the following:
i. Reading a newspaper and a text and identifying their
differences in relation to their organization.
ii. Punctuating the unpunctuated text.
(b) Organise students to present their works to the class for
discussion and shared understanding.
(c) Make clarification where necessary.
