Exercise 2�2 in the Student’s Book
(a) Divide students into manageable groups and guide them
through doing the following:
i. Studying the sentences given in their text book and

identifying every area where punctuation marks apply.
ii. Re-writing the sentences and correctly punctuate them.
iii. Sharing their answers with the class for further discussion.
(b) Check the correctness of students’ work and provide
clarification.

Teaching procedure
1. Guide students through brainstorming the concept of sentence and
sentence structure.
2. Ask students to write various sentences with different structures.
3. Have students in pairs discuss and analyse different structures of
the sentences constructed in (b)above.
4. Ask students to note down specific sentences according to their
respective structures, i.e., SVO, SVC, SVOC, and other sentence
structure patterns.
5. Have students discuss further and explain other structures used in
analysing sentences.
6. Guide students through presenting their work in the class for
knowledge sharing and improvement.
7. Make clarifications where necessary.
Activity 2�2 in the Student’s Book
(a) Guide students in groups through reading the following
sentences carefully and responding accordingly by doing the
following:
i. Correcting the mistakes in each sentence and rewriting
them.
