Paragraph writing
Teaching procedures
1. Ask students in pairs to read the information about paragraph writing
presented in the Student’s Book.
2. Ask a few students from the pairs to read aloud the steps for writing
a paragraph presented in the Student’s Book. Guide them through
discussing each step they have read.
3. Select a student to read a sample paragraph and the important note
in the Student’s Book.
4. Organise students into groups and provide each group with books
and scholarly reports. Then, guide them through determining how
the paragraphs in the books and reports are well developed.
5. Allow students to ask any questions where necessary for further
clarification.
Exercise 2�3 in the Student’s Book
(a) Divide students into manageable groups and guide them
through doing the following:
i. Reading the sample paragraph provides in the Student’s
Book.
ii. Studying the sample paragraph and identifying the topic
statement, the topic statement development and the
conclusion sentence.
