(a) Instruct students to organise themselves in three groups.
(b) Ask each group to choose a topic from the thee topics presented
in the student’s Book.
(c) Guide students in their groups through preparing and
conducting debate sessions on the chosen topics.
Exercise 3�1 in the Student’s Book
(a) Ask students in the three groups they formed for Activity 3.1
to do the following:
i. Discuss how helpful were the techniques for engaging in
a debate to them.
ii. Let each group present their responses to the class for
discussion and knowledge sharing.
iii. Allow students to ask questions and give answers. Where
necessary clarify issues and correct students mistakes.
(b) Guide students through discussing how other speakers’
emotions and opinions affected them and how they managed
to handle them during the debates.
