Teaching procedures
1. Guide students through explaining the techniques for engaging in
debates.

2. Let students discuss in pairs, information about techniques for
engaging in debates as presented in the Student’s Book.
3. Ask students in their pairs to present the work to the class for further
discussion.
4. Allow questions from the students to understand more about the
techniques for engaging in debates. Use the questions for the class
discussion.
Procedures for conducting a debate
Teaching procedures
1. Ask students individually to write any two procedures for conducting
a debate they know.
2. Let students pair up and share their work, come to an agreement
and have one work as a pair.
3. Ask two pairs to form a group and use their works to prepare a
group work.
4. Let students in their groups present their works using a gallery walk.
5. Instruct students to discuss in their groups the information about
procedures for conducting debates as presented in the Student’s
Book.
6. Let students in their groups present their works to the class for
further discussion.
7. Allow questions from the students to understand more about the
procedures for conducting a debate. Use the questions for the class
discussion.
Organising a debate
Teaching procedures
1. Ask students oral questions about organising a debate. Questions
can be but not limited to:
(a) Have you ever participated in organising a debate?
(b) How did you organise a debate?
