           Conversion
           Teaching and Learning Procedures
The following procedures may be used in teaching the conversion word
           formation process:
           1. Guide students through explaining what conversion is. Let them
engage in the introduction by making reference to the notes they
               created in Activity 1.1.
           2. Provide examples of conversion to demonstrate the concept. Begin
with easy and common examples like “email” (noun to verb), “text”
(noun to verb), or “run” (verb to noun).
           3. Explain how these words change word class or function while
               maintaining spelling and form.
           4. Provide students with words and ask them to assign different word
               classes.
           5. Give examples of the forms of conversions, including noun to verb,
verb to noun, adjective to noun, etc. Show how meaning and usage
of the word can change depending on its new class.
           6. Ask students in pairs to present conversion pairs to assist students in
understanding the relationship between the original and transformed
words. For example, combine “email” (noun) with “to email” (verb),
or “text” (noun) with “to text” (verb). Encourage the students to find
parallels and contrasts between the original and transformed words.
           7. Give students a list of words and ask them to convert them to another
word class. For example, give them a list of nouns and ask them to
turn them into verbs or adjectives.
           8. Guide students to explore how converted words are utilised in
various settings and how their meanings vary depending on their
               word class.
