2. Randomly, choose a few students and ask them to read aloud the
information on “using illustrations in academic presentations” and
“Criteria for using illustrations in academic documents” as presented
in the Student’s Book.

3. Ask students in pairs to study the samples of illustrations presented
in the Student’s Book.
4. Allow students to ask questions about the provided samples of
illustrations and the uses of illustrations in academic presentations.
5. Use their questions for class discussion.
Activity 6�3 in the Student’s Book
(a) Ask students in groups to do the activity as instructed in the
Student’s Book.
(b) They should choose a topic of their interest and follow all the
necessary procedures for conducting research i.e., generating a
topic, doing literature review, developing proposal, collecting
data, analysing data and presenting findings.
(c) Insist them on using relevant illustrations to enhance the
information.
(d) Guide students through presenting their work to the class.
(e) Correct students’ errors to improve their work.
Project work
Guide students in manageable groups to design and conduct a project
in any area of their interest related to Academic communication.
Allow each group to write a project report while monitoring and
editing it. Let them submit their reports and provide feedback.
