              Investigating the properties of matter

Matter can change from one state to another depending on
changes in temperature. The following experiments 1-4, will

demonstrate the three states of matter using water.

Experiment 1: Investigating the properties of water in the solid
                                 state

Aim: To demonstrate the properties of water in the
                                    solid state

Materials: Six equal-sized ice cubes, a saucepan, an
ice box, a flat surface such as tray, a jug and
a heat source (such as a stove)

Note: Ensure the ice is from safe and clean water.
