liquid state
Materials: A jug, a saucepan, drinking water, a plastic
bag and a clean cup
Procedure
1. Pour the drinking water into a clean cup, then smell and
taste it. What do you notice?
2. Examine the colour of the water. What colour did you see?
3. Place some water into the jug and some into the saucepan.
Put the remaining water into the plastic bag and seal it.
4. Observe the shape of the water in the jug, saucepan, and
plastic bag.
5. Tilt the jug or saucepan to observe how the water flows.
6. Pour the water from the jug into the plastic cup and observe
the volume. Then, pour the water from the plastic bag into
the cup and compare the volume with the initial amount.
7. Record your observations.
Results
Water in its liquid state has no colour, taste or smell. It has no
definite shape, taking the shape of the container it is placed in
while maintaining a fixed volume regardless of the container.
Additionally, water flows freely from one place to another.
