Meaning of God’s creation
Creation is an act of bringing something into existence. God’s creation is the making
of the earth, the heavens and everything in it. God created the whole universe without
using pre-existing materials (ex- nihilo) (Genesis 1).
Activity 2.1
Use library materials and online sources relevant to Genesis 1, then describe the
meaning of God’s creation.
Creation accounts
Creation accounts are the biblical stories of creation found in Genesis 1 -2. In the
Bible, there are two creation accounts.
The first creation account
The first creation story in the book of Genesis begins with the opening words, “In the
beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and
void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving
over the face of the waters” (Genesis 1:1-2).
