Numbers is about an account of the census of the Israelites and the wandering of the

Deuteronomy is a code of civil and religious laws and final preparation for entering

Main events in the Pentateuch

There are four main events in the Pentateuch. These are: The creation, the formation
of biblical Patriarchs, the giving of the Covenant at Sinai, the liberation and guidance
from captivity to the Promise Land.

Activity 1.4

Use library and internet sources, then identify the books of Pentateuch in the Bible
and their importance.

The Concept of the Book of Genesis
The Book of Genesis is the first book in the Bible. It is divided into two main parts,
with chapters 1-11 telling the story of God and the whole world, and chapters 12-50
focusing on the story of God, a man and his family.

The word Genesis is a Greek word, which means ‘Origin’ or ‘Birth’ or ‘Beginning’.
Genesis or Bereshit in Hebrew, explains the origin of the universe, human race, as
well as the origin of sin, suffering and death. It also describes the origin of the Jewish
people, and how God intervened to repair the damage caused by sin.

Use different sources of knowledge and the Bible to explain the meaning of Genesis.
