(c) A semiquaver: Semiquavers have two flags. When flags of semiquavers are
joined together, they form two beam lines. Figure 2.6 shows how semiquavers
are written while connected by two beam lines.

In some cases, quavers and semiquavers can be beamed together. Figure 2.7
shows how quavers and semiquavers can be beamed together.

When counting semiquavers, you should also keep in mind that the value of
one semiquaver is half of a quaver. Therefore, one semiquaver plus another
semiquaver is equal to one quaver. When counting semiquavers by using
numbers, while regarding crotchet as a beat, the first semiquaver will be
counted as “one!”, the second as “da!”, the third as “and!“ and the fourth
as “a!”; that is, (one-da-and-a). Figure 2.8 shows how to count semiquavers
using numbers while clapping.
