When counting semiquavers by using syllables, while regarding crotchet as
a beat, the first semiquaver will be counted as “ta!”, the second as “fa!”,
the third as “te!” and the fourth as “fe!”. Figure 2.9 shows how to count
semiquavers using syllables while clapping.
Ta! fa! te! fe!

(d) A minim: Each minim has the value of two beats since there are two crotchets
in it. Keep in mind that one separate crotchet is counted as one beat. Therefore,
since there are two crotchets in one minim, you will count two beats within
one minim. In order to maintain the full length of a minim beat, the first
crotchet beat (One!) will be counted loudly, when counting using numbers.
On the contrary the second crotchet beat (two!) will be counted silently in
your head. Figure 2.10 (a) shows how a minim can be counted using numbers
while clapping.

In order to maintain the full length of a minim beat, the first and second
crotchet beats (Ta-a!) will be counted loudly, when counting using syllables.
