Coordination in animals

             6. Repeat 3–5 times and calculate the average distance.

            Procedure (auditory stimulus)
             1. This time, drop the ruler after saying “Now!” instead of relying on sight.

             2. Repeat the process and record the reaction distances.

             3. Tabulate your results and calculate average distance as follows.

                 No. Drop Distance (cm)
                 1.
                 2.

                 Average
            Observation

             (a) What did you observe? Give reason (s) for your answer.
             (b) Write the observation of your experiment.

            Question
Compare the average distances for visual and auditory stimuli.
            Conclusion

             (a) Provide a conclusion for your experiment.
             (b) Write a short report of the experiment.

                       Experiment 2.3

Aim: Demonstrating the reflex arc using withdrawal reflex (touch stimulus)

            Materials
Cold metal object or ice, volunteer & stopwatch (optional)

            Procedure
             1. Gently place a cold object or ice onto the back of the volunteer’s hand without
                warning.

             2. Observe the response (e.g., pulling the hand away).
             3. Measure the time taken for the response.

             4. Ask the subject whether they felt the stimulus before or after withdrawing the
                hand.
