FOR ONLINE READING ONLY
I am here to oppose the motion that states: “The Internet is beneficial for
young people.”
I would like to begin by noting that it is now easier than ever to access
the Internet through computers, phones, or tablets. There is no doubt that
nowadays most young people spend more time online than ever before. In
my opinion, accessibility to the Internet has brought more harm to young
people than good. Currently, many young people waste most of their
valuable time on social media and playing online games. All these have
negatively impacted their schoolwork and social lives, as they have less time
to perform their homework and school-related activities. In addition, some
young people barely communicate with their parents or siblings because they
are constantly on their phones and computers. Personally, I think that the
negative impacts of the internet outweigh its benefits, especially for young
scholars. In my view, young people should limit their use of the Internet to
educational purposes only.
Thank you for listening.
