(iv) Neaten the raw edge of a seam
Machine by using any of the following

procedures of how to make them.
Machine stitch (edge stitching): Machine
stitch is suitable for non-fraying fabric of
medium weight and; for garments which

(i) Make 2 narrow turning 0.5 cm from
the raw edge of the seam.
(iii) Remove the tacking.
(ii) Tack and machine stitch very close

(iii) Fasten off the stitch and cut the thread.
(iv) Press the seam open to make it
lie flat. If it is a woollen fabric,
use a damp cloth when pressing.
Blanket stitching: This is suitable for
non-fraying fabrics.
(i) Trim the raw edges within 1cm from
the stitching line.
(ii) Work blanket stitches evenly over the
raw edges (3mm deep and 3 mm apart).
