Textiles and Garment Construction

             A double stitched seam is useful for thick
           lingerie material and  for soft fabrics.
           The seam can be worked on the right or
           wrong side of the garment depending
           on  the  effect  desired.  The completed
           seam should be pressed and stitched
           flat  towards  the  back  of  the  garment.
            For functional seams, the thread used should
           match the colour of the fabric. Where a
           decorative effect is desired, the thread
           should be of good contrast to the garment   (iv)   Make a turning of the other side of

           Procedures for working  on a double
           stitched seam
           (i)  Preparation: Prepare the fabric and

           (ii)   Tack  and  stitch  the  first  line  of
                stitching along the fitting line.
