Fostering the practice of transferring piglets from
one sow to another to ensure that all piglets
receive adequate milk and care. This is often
done when a sow has too many piglets to
nurse.

Fur block a condition where rabbits ingest too much
fur, leading to a blockage in their digestive
system.
Fur breeds Breeds that are primarily raised for their fur,
such as the Angora rabbits
Gestation the period between conception and birth in
animals; in pigs, typically lasting about 114
days (3 months, 3 weeks, 3 days). It is around
28-31 days for rabbits
Gilt a young female pig that has not yet given
birth. Gilts are typically bred when they
reach maturity.
Grooming the process of cleaning and maintaining a
rabbit’s fur, which can include brushing,
trimming, and bathing.
Harvesting the process of collecting mature crops from
the field.
Herbivore an animal that primarily eats plants, as rabbits
do.
Herd a group of animals e.g. pigs raised together.
Hutch a type of cage or enclosure where rabbits are
housed.
Inbreeding breeding between closely related animals
e.g. rabbits or pigs, often to maintain specific
traits within a line, but it can also lead to
health issues.
Kindling the process of a doe giving birth to her litter.
