Artificial insemination (AI) is a breeding technique where semen is
collected from a male animal and manually

Bacon a type of meat product that comes from
the back or sides of a pig, often cured and
smoked.
Bagging the practice of covering a bunch of bananas
with bags to protect the fruits against damage
caused by insects and other pests.
Banana bunch large cluster of bananas growing on a single
stalk.
Banana finger an individual banana within a hand.
Banana hand a subgroup of bananas on a bunch. Each hand
consists of 10-20 bananas.
Barrow a castrated male pig, usually raised for meat
production.
Biosecurity biological practices designed to prevent the
introduction and spread of diseases within an
animal unit.
Boar a mature male pig used for breeding. Boars
are selected for their genetics to improve the
quality of the pig herd.
Buck a male rabbit.
Castration the removal of the testicles of a young male
animal e.g. pig (boar) to prevent it from
becoming a breeding animal (boar).
Coccidiosis a common parasitic disease in rabbits, is
caused by protozoa and affects the intestinal
tract.
