This activity aims to enable students to identify different
franchises available in Tanzania and describe their benefits to the
community.
Guidance in Activity 2.3
(a) Guide every student to use reliable sources such as library
search, consultation, or ICT to identify and explain the benefits
of different franchises available in Tanzania.
(b) Use any technique to facilitate students present their answers,
and provide constructive feedback.
Possible answers
Some of the franchises available in Tanzania are Kentucky Fried
Chicken and Subway which are American fast-food restaurants. The
benefits of those franchises to the community are as follows:
(a) Creates employment opportunities.
(b) Customers satisfaction due to the provision of quality products.
(c) Increase government revenues.
(d) Creates a market for local products like agricultural produce.
Possible answers for Exercise 2.3
1. The meaning of franchise and how it differs from other forms
of business units is explained in the student’s textbook.
2. Some challenges encountering franchises in Tanzania are
cultural differences, small number of customers, unsatisfactory
financial privacy, technology and little room for creativity.
