(b) Reading the provided text and answering the questions after it.
This activity is intended to introduce students to close reading.
Ask each student to closely read the text and answer the
questions that follow. Then, instruct them each to pair up and

discuss their responses. Instruct each pair to present their work
to the class and thereafter engage in a plenary discussion. The
students’ responses may vary, but ensure that they are correct
and relevant.
(c) Choosing two novels and making a comparative analysis based
on given contexts. Instruct the students to do this activity in small
groups and let them present to the class what they have done for
discussion. Provide any necessary clarification and feedback for
improvement on the student’s responses.
(d) Writing short notes on the terms provided in the Student’s Book.
You may instruct the students to do this activity in pairs and
present their notes to the class for discussion and improvement.
Ask them to revise their notes after the discussion and submit
them for evaluation. Provide constructive feedback.
(e) Discussing the given concepts. Instruct them to write short
notes for each concept. You may as well instruct them to do this
activity in small groups and present their notes to the class for
discussion and improvement. Ask them to revise their notes

(f) Reading the poem and answering the questions given in the
Student’s Book. You may ask students to answer the questions
individually and share the answers with fellow students before
conducting a plenary discussion.
