This activity may be done first individually by reading the
dialogue and then in small groups of three students to act it
out. The activity is intended to introduce students to the concept
of aesthetics and values in literature. Ask them also to read

information from other sources on the two concepts.
(b) Reflecting on the dialogue between Prof. Pondamali, Maganga
and Fatuma using the provided questions in the Student’s Book
and writing a summary. Instruct the students to do this activity
in pairs or small groups and present their summary in class for
discussion and clarification. Provide clarification if necessary
and ask them to incorporate the improvements and write a
final summary for submission.
Activity 11.2 Assessing the contribution of elements of form in
shaping the meanings of any literary work
Use the activities in the Student’s Book to guide the students through:
(a) Searching for information from different sources on the given
elements of literature and writing short notes. Instruct each stu-
dent to do the activity and share in pairs and compile the notes.
Next, instruct them to sit in small groups and prepare notes for
the group presentation. Lead a plenary discussion and provide
any clarification if needed.
(b) Reading the story and writing what theme or meaning is af-
fected by the setting of the story. This activity should be done
individually and thereafter discussed in pairs and finally small
groups. Students may produce varied responses. The following
may guide you in evaluating their responses.
