Assessment and feedback
Assessment is an important part of the teaching and learning of English
because it helps a teacher and a student to:
(a) Track progress: It will allow you as a teacher to see how well
the students are learning English over time.
(b) Identify strengths and weaknesses: Assessment shows what the
students are good at and what they need to improve.
(c) Set goals: It helps you and your students set goals for what you
want to achieve in English.
(d) Motivate: Knowing they will be assessed can motivate the
students to study and try their best.
(e) Feedback: It provides feedback to the students on their
performance, helping them learn from their mistakes.
(f) Adjust and improve teaching: You can adjust your teaching
methods based on assessment results to better help your
students.
(g) Communicate: Assessment results can be shared with parents
and others to show how well students are doing in English.
Overall, assessment is like a roadmap that guides both teachers and
students through the journey of learning English. Make sure the
students respond in full sentences both oral and written forms.
