               Seven oral and written texts

         FOR ONLINE READING ONLY

Mastering the art of creating diverse oral and written texts for
different communicative purposes needs an appropriate plan and
process. Students will be required to deliver informative speeches
or engaging narratives and write persuasive essays in different
contexts. Going through this chapter will help them cultivate
proficiency in selecting appropriate vocabulary, organising ideas
and adapting their tone and style to suit the intended audience
and purpose of communication. The competencies developed will
enhance their language proficiency and effective communication
           across different contexts and cultures.

Activity 7.1 Comparing a variety of complex oral texts from
different contexts using prosodic features and
                        grammar

Use the activities in the Student’s Book to guide the students through:

             (a) Studying the provided texts and responding to the questions
after each text. Ask each student to read the texts closely, one
at a time, and respond to the questions. Then, instruct them
to pair up and discuss their responses. Finally, conduct a
plenary discussion to generate a common understanding of
the questions and responses. The following are the possible
                 responses:
