Teaching steps
1. Guide students to search for information from the library
and the internet sources/video showing the extraction of
cassava starch.
2. Engage students in interactive activities to discuss the
procedures for the extraction of cassava starch. Check
whether students participate actively in group discussion.
Ask students to note what they have discussed.
3. Guide students to select good quality cassava for starch
extraction. Guide students to prepare cassava starch by
following all the procedures. Check the correctness of the
procedures. Assist students accordingly.
4. Guide students to view the structure of cassava starch in low
and high magnification power magnification. Task students
to draw the observed structures.
5. Instruct students to perform Activity 4.5 and Exercise 4.3.
Mark students’ works and make clarification where necessary.
