                                     Dietary needs

                Introduction

               Dietary needs vary from person to person depending on
               age, sex, activity level, and individual health conditions.
               Individuals with special dietary needs include those who
               require  specific  dietary  considerations  due  to  medical
               conditions, allergies, physiological conditions and dietary
               restrictions. In this chapter, students will learn about the
               concept of dietary needs and nutritional requirements for
               groups of people with special dietary needs. The competences
               developed will enable students to prepare meals that meet
               nutrient requirements and provide nutritional education
               to people with special dietary needs in the family and the
               community at large.







              Student activities

                (a) Explaining the concept of dietary needs.

                (b) Describing nutritional requirement for groups of people with
                    special dietary needs.

                (c) Planning meals for people with special dietary needs.
