FOR ONLINE READING ONLY
Introduction
Translation becomes complex when it involves translating a technical text or
document. Translation of technical documents involves the conversion of complex
and specialised content from one language to another, maintaining accuracy
and preserving the intended technical meaning. In this chapter, you will practise
applying the principles of translation to produce a complex authentic translation.
The competencies developed will enable you to provide translation services in
different specialised fields such as law, medicine, engineering and science and
technology.
Think about
1. your experience in translating and handling complex texts.
2. the strategies or techniques that can be employed to maintain
fidelity to the original text while ensuring coherence and readability
in the translated version.
