Activity 9.2 Translating a variety of general texts using Computer Assisted
                              Translation (CAT) tools

          (a) Read and act out the following dialogue about using CAT tools in translation.
Juma is an experienced translator of traditional translation methods. Rehema is
an experienced translator who has recently started using CAT tools.

[Scene: Juma and Rehema are in a restaurant, sipping their drinks.]

Juma: Rehema, I’ve heard you’ve started using CAT tools in your translations.
                        How’s that going?
Rehema: Yeah, it’s been quite an interesting journey so far. I must say, I was a bit
sceptical at first, but now I see the benefits.
Juma: Really? What changed your mind?
Rehema: Well, for one, the efficiency they offer is unparalleled. Their capability of
storing and reusing translations, especially for repetitive text, saves me
so much time. Plus, they ensure consistency throughout the document.
Juma: Ah, yes, consistency can be a serious challenge in translation. How do
you compare their translation quality to that of traditional methods?
Rehema: Surprisingly good, actually. Their inbuilt translation memories and
glossaries help me ensure accuracy and consistency across projects. And
the best part is that I can easily access terminology databases specific to
                        different industries.
Juma: That does sound handy. But do you ever find the interface of CAT tools
                        cumbersome to navigate?
Rehema: At first, yes. It took me some time getting used to it, but once I got the
hang of it, it became second nature. Plus, there are so many tutorials and
online resources available to help with unfamiliar issues I encounter.
