are more likely to invest time, effort and resources into developing
                    innovative and ground breaking productions.

            Patents
A patent is a legal right granted by a government to theatre artists for a specific

invention. It gives the patent holder the exclusive right to make, use, and sell
their creative works for a limited period of less than twenty years from the date
of the patent filled in the application. In exchange for disclosing their creativity
to the public, creative artists usually receive the exclusive right to exploit their
            creativity for commercial benefits.

            Importance of patents
                (a) They encourage innovation in stage technologies. Although not as
common, some theatre productions incorporate innovative technologies
or mechanisms. For example, a theatre artist might invent a novel stage
lighting system or a unique stage prop. In such cases, patents could be
relevant for protecting such innovation. This further provides the artist
exclusive rights to their creation and financial rewards through licensing
                    agreement or sale.

                (b) They allow interactive performances. With the rise of immersive theatre
experiences or interactive installations, artists may develop new techniques
or systems to engage audiences. These innovations could potentially be
patentable. Patentable innovation offers protection and incentives for
further experimentation and investment in the development of interactive
                    theatrical experience.

                (c) They encourage investment. Even if patents are not directly applicable
to traditional theatre productions, the availability of patent protection
can still encourage investment in theatre-related technologies, processes
or infrastructures. Investments foster a culture of innovation and
entrepreneurship within theatre industry. Patents thereby contribute to the
advancement and sustainability of the creative artists and performing arts
                    sector as a whole.
