            Collaboration
Theatre is a collaborative art form, and artists must work together effectively in a
team that is made up of other artists and the entire crew. This includes directors,
fellow performers, designers, technicians and other staff members to bring

theatrical script to life. The team should work together to create a unified vision
of the performance. All team members must work together towards a common
vision for production and aligning their individual contributions to serve the
overall story and artistic intent. While the director typically provides a primary
vision, it is the responsibility of all artists to understand and contribute to this
            vision cohesively.

            Preparation and rehearsals
Theatre artists (actors and actresses) spend significant amount of time preparing
for performances. This involves researching characters and contexts, memorising
lines, attending rehearsals, and refining their performances through practice and
feedback. Preparation and rehearsals are fundamental responsibilities of theatre

artists because they ensure that the final performance is polished, professional
and engaging. Theatre artists must demonstrate a strong commitment to their
performance by dedicating time and effort to prepare and rehearse. This shows
respect for the production and the audience. Preparation allows actors to fully
understand and embody their characters, exploring motivations and backstories.
Rehearsals are crucial for building chemistry and trust among cast members,
which is essential for a great performance.

            Craftsmanship
Depending on their specific roles, theatre artists are responsible for specific crafts
such as set design, costume design, lighting design, sound design or props design.
These roles require technical skills and creativity to bring the artistic vision of the

production to success. Theatre artists have a responsibility to continually develop
and refine their skills. This includes acting, directing, set design, costume design,
lighting design, sound design or any other aspect of theatre. Achieving mastery
in their craft ensures that artists can execute their roles effectively and contribute
to the overall success of production. Craftsmanship in theatre requires attention
to detail in every aspect, from the accuracy of lines delivered by actors to the
intricate designs of costumes, sets and props.
