Professional recognition and respect
Theatre artists deserve recognition and respect for their contributions to the
performing arts from award-winning actors, directors, producers to innovative
stage designers and technicians. Artists should be acknowledged for their talent,
dedication and impact they bring on the development of theatre community
and the nation at large. Like other artists, theatre artists have the right of being
respected, as they contribute greatly in promoting socio-cultural awareness to the
society thus leading to change of the entire society. Theatre artists also, educate
people in every aspect socially, culturally, economically and politically, therefore,
they should be respected like other professionals from other carriers. Theatre
artists should be treated with respect and dignity by colleagues, employers and
audiences; hence they require to be free from discrimination, harassment or
exploitation of any kind.
