other side unfaithfulness in offering takes one away from God; hence deprives God’s
blessings. It takes away God’s protection and provision from us. It also makes us poor
both spiritually and materially. It may hinder us from entering the kingdom of God.

          2. What is the importance of sacrifice and offering to God?

          The descendants of Cain
Cain went and dwelt in the land of Nod. There Cain knew his wife and got a son whom
he named Enoch. Cain built a city in the name of his son Enoch. The descendants of
Cain were as follows: Enoch, Irad, Mehujael, Methuselah and Lamech.

Lamech married two wives namely Adah and Zillah. Adah had sons namely: Jabal - His
descendants dwelt in tents and had cattle, and Jubal - His descendants played lyre and
pipe. Zillah had a son whom she named Tubal-Cain. He made all kinds of bronze
and iron tools and had a daughter whom she named Naamah.

The concept of polygamy in the Bible
Polygamy is a marital state in which a person is married to more than one wives as
opposed to the marriage between one man and one woman, known as monogamy.
Polygamy exists in different forms. When a man is married to many spouses is
called polygyny while when a woman is married to more than one husband is called
polyandry. According to the Bible, Lamech was the first man to practice polygamy. He
contradicted God’s principle of monogamy. Based on the creation story, God instituted
marriage between one man and one woman (monogamy). In the New Testament,
Jesus explicitly states that a man should have only one wife (Mathew 19:3-9). The
Apostle Paul writing at different times insisted that, church leaders must at all times,
uphold the practice of monogamy (1 Timothy 3:2).
