Abraham and Lot tantamount to the conflicts between farmers and livestock keepers
in our societies. Just apportioning of land for each category of economic activity may
            resolve such conflicts.

The kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled from the country. The enemy took all the
goods of Sodom and Gomorrah, and all their possessions. They also took Lot and his

goods. They went their way. The one who escaped came and told Abraham. Therefore,
Abraham sent his 318 trained men to rescue Lot. He rescued Lot, his goods, women
            and all the people.

            Abraham and Melchizedek
Melchizedek was the King of Salem and the Priest of the Highest God. He brought
bread and wine, and gave it to Abraham. He blessed Abraham in the name of the
Highest God. Then, Abraham gave Melchizedek a tenth of everything.

            King of Sodom meets Abraham

The King of Sodom went to meet Abraham at the valley of Shaveh (King’s valley).
He asked Abraham to give him back his people whom he rescued and told him to
take the goods. However, Abraham did not take any goods. He gave back all the
            people and the goods.

            Abrahamic Covenant
The Abrahamic covenant is the covenant that God made with Abraham. The word of
God came to Abraham in a vision telling him not to fear because He was his shield.
Abraham noted that God promised him to be a big nation but he was childless. He

told God that Eliezer, a servant from Damascus, could be his heir. However, God
refused saying, “This man shall not be your heir. Your own son shall be your heir”
(Genesis 15:4). God assured him that his generation would be as the stars of the heaven
through his own seed. He was also to occupy the land between Egypt and Euphrates
River. Abraham said, “O Lord how am I to know that I shall possess it? (Genesis
15:8). In order to prove this to him, God told Abraham to offer the following: A three
years-old heifer, a three years-old female goat, a three years-old ram, a turtle dove and
a pigeon. Abraham offered the burnt offering to God as he had been directed. Then, the
Lord made a covenant with Abraham. In this covenant God promised to give him the

land of Canaan, a heir, to make him a great nation (posterity), blessing, and protection.
Figure 4.2 is a portrayal of Abraham entering in a covenant with God.
