(c) The F major scale
In order to construct F major scale, you need to arrange a series of eight notes
starting from the first note which is F, while following the pattern for constructing
major scales, which is T-T-S-T-T-T-S.
(i) Step 1: Write a series of eight notes from note F: F-G-A-B-C-D-E-F
(ii) Step 2: Count the steps between notes by following the pattern for
constructing major scales (T-T-S-T-T-T-S) as follows:
(a) From F to G = Tone (T)
(b) From G to A = Tone (T)
(c) From A to B = Tone (T); but, since the pattern for major scale requires you
to count a half step (S), you have to minimise the distance between A and
B. This can be done by lowering note B using a flat (♭) sign to get a half
step or semitone. Therefore, you will count from A to B = Semitone (S).

(d) From B to C = Tone (T)

(e) From C to D = Tone (T)
(f) From D to E = Tone (T)
(g) From E to F = Semitone (S)
The order of F major scale obtained is F-G-A-B -C-D-E-F. Figures 3.25

and 3.26 show the ascending F major scale constructed on a piano and
treble staff.
