E) will be modified by dividing it into two crotchets and then add a note
between E and G in an upward movement which will be note F. Therefore,
a melody will move from C to E and from E to F and then to G. See the
example shown in Figure 4.4.

Other notes can be added in order to further modify the second bar. For
example, in Figure 4.5, in the second bar of the motif, two notes have been
added from note G. One note has been added in an upward movement (note
A) and another has been added in a downward movement from note A to note
G. Note that, a melody can be modified using notes of different values. See
the example shown in Figure 4.5.

(f) Complete the melody with phrase B (third and fourth bars). One of the
recommended ways at this step is to repeat the first two bars in a downward
movement with slight modifications where possible. This can be done by
copying the first bar and use it as a third bar and the second bar as a fourth bar
in a downward movement. Finally, a melody can be finished up on the first
note of the scale which is C using a minim. See the example of a complete
melody with phrase A and B in Figure 4.6. Remember that you can use note
values of your own choice when creating a melody. It is also advised to end
a melody with longer note.
